Ethan Rome is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer in Seattle, Washington. He graduated from the University of Iowa with degrees in Dance, Psychology, and Entrepreneurial Management. From there he trained at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and then relocated to Seattle.He performed with the Khambatta Dance Company for three years. He has also danced for the Seattle Opera, Kayle+Company and various other projects. Ethan has performed and taught around the world and in the United States, including: Seattle, throughout the Midwest, Puerto Rico, Lithuania, India, Mexico, and Brazil.Ethan has choreographed original works for Kayle+Company, the University of Iowa, the All Out Kids, the Chelsea Ballet, Inlay Dance, the Khambatta Dance Company, and numerous pieces for his company: Forthun+Rome Dance Theater.
Ethan has had the honor of receiving Velocity’s Bridge Project residency, presenting work at the Seattle International Dance Festival, and has had work commissioned by Case Van Rij. Recently Forthun+Rome received the James Ray Residency and will present at SIDF.Ethan’s work often draws from philosophical, scientific, and cultural influences. His contemporary movement is generated through a background in both classical dance and hip hop, as well as martial arts training. Often he draws from his Korean heritage to create characters, metaphors, and environment in his pieces.
