Ivana Lin was born in the Seattle, Washington area in 1993. Growing up in the states with emigrant parents from China and Taiwan she developed an understanding of the importance of communication and an appreciation for the diversity within cultures. Ivana developed a love for ballet at a young age, and began training at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School at the age of six, performing in their production of the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Hansel and Gretel, and Pinocchio as Pinocchio.
During her time there she also attended San Francisco Ballet School’s summer intensive in 2008 and had the opportunity to perform with the Alvin Ailey Company during their 50th Anniversary tour that same year. In 2012 she joined the Evergreen City Ballet’s performance division, dancing roles such as sugar plum and dew drop in the Nutcracker, and Cinderella in Cinderella. Ivana has also had the opportunity to choreograph a dance for the Evergreen City Ballet.
Though being trained in modern technique it wasn’t until Ivana entered the University of Washington’s dance program in 2012 that she truly began to explore the diversity and love the techniques of modern dance, having the opportunity of performing in the University of Washington productions of the Dance Faculty Concert, Dance Major’s Concert, Masters of Fine Arts Concert, and Chamber Dance Company Concert. Completing a Bachelor of Arts in dance as well as a Bachelor of Science in physiology, Ivana is deeply intrigued in develop an understanding of the human body, both expressively as a dancer as well as biologically as a scientist.
Since then she has had the privilege to perform with the Bandaloop Company and work with choreographers such as Amy Lambert and Noelle Price in her company N.E.W.
